I have been collecting faux pearls for decoration. I do love them in a dish just as they are mixed with shells!
Below is my collection of 12 metal shells (from Target called table scatters) shown with another set of faux pearls I found from a thrift store in silver metalic finish.

You see - THIS inspires me. I am a collector of the silver trays. I see them all the time in thrift stores and garage sales... sometimes they have inscriptions... I think they are just too darn cute to leave... and plus - somebody thought enough of them to engrave them.. at one time they meant something.. why not now....

Aren't they so WONDERFUL! I go for the edging... I have a few round ones that I will use at Christmastime for chargers. I love them under things too. I used to have a large collection of the alluminum trays, but only kept a few of my favorites.
You are right, hard to turn away the silver!
